Autumn Waterfalls

Autumn brings out a riot of colors that range from brilliant reds, oranges and yellows, to softer, more monochromatic effects that can be every bit as beautiful.  When the waterfalls are framed in this season, color photography comes into its own.

"Aglow In Autumn"

Buttermilk Falls

A truely glorious season in this closely wooded gorge.  I tend to prefer the early part of the season when the bright colors sparkle through mostly green foliage.

"The Smaller Falls"

Robert Treman State Park

Usually I enter the park at the top and walk down toward Lucifer Falls, passing this lovely sight on the way.

 "Taughannock Falls in Autumn"

The sheer cliffs topped by autumn maple trees make a perfect setting for the dramatic plunge of water from the capstone ledge.

"Lucifer Falls - Autumn"

In this gorge the color comes from the Virginia Creeper that roams along the surface of the stone walls guarding the path.

"Dark Falls"

Chittenango Falls

In certain light he spray from the waterfall reflects the color of the flaming maples surrounding its cliffs.

"Bronze Light"

Carpenter Falls

The russet tones of the foliage near Carpenter Falls impart the subtle beauty of an old sepia print.
